Can a water bottle start a car fire on a sunny day? ABC13 put the theory to the test
DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- When it gets hot out and you're on the go, you're probably going to want to bring a water bottle with you. When you get to where you're going, make sure to take the bottle out of the car with you. If you don't, and the bottle is sitting in direct sunlight long enough, it could start a fire inside your car. ABC13 put the water bottle fire theory to the test with The Danville Fire Department, taking a plastic bottle and hovering it over a piece of paper in direct sunlight.
FYI: Water bottles can start car fires if the sun hits It just right…
