BPA Free: Frego Glass and Silicone Food Storage Containers

Many of you have heard that plastic bottles and containers are declining in popularity due to concerns over bisphenol A, or BPA, a chemical often used in plastics. BPA is a potential endocrine disruptor that is also believed to mimic estrogen in the body. If the plastic is heated (as in, a water bottle left in the car or direct sunlight), it's possible for the chemicals to seep into the water. As a result, less risky glass containers are growing in popularity. Only problem? Glass breaks. And it's heavy. On a recent trip to the Container Store, I found these Frego glass containers, which are completely BPA-free and have silicone outer shells and lids. The silicone shell means it won't shatter if you drop it (and, bonus, who doesn't appreciate a little color?). But aside from being a convenient, portable, safe, and shatter-free way to transport food to work or school, the 16-ounce containers also serve another healthy purpose: portion control. I started sticking to proper food portions (and prepping my own meals) on the diet and workout plan I was on earlier this summer. These 16-ounce containers turned out to be the perfect size for most single-portion meals, whether.
