Garlic, ginger, nutmeg, hard cheeses--this ceramic grater tackles them all and does the grating (and even zesting) job beautifully. Handcrafted in Texas, the plate comes in beautiful sea pearl with a polished finish that won't wear down over time. Use it for prep work or to whip up and serve a quick garlic dipping oil for bread. The Holman Pottery Garlic Grater makes garlic (and other foods) simple and efficient by using the ridges in the center of the plate. Each piece of pottery is hand thrown and signed by the artist so no two pieces are exactly alike. Slight variations should be expected and enjoyed. Garlic: Moisten Garlic Grater with cold water. Peel the skin from the garlic clove. Hold the grater securely with one hand. With our other hand, hold the clove of garlic between your fingers (hold with base/root end). Move garlic in any direction to grate (making sure not to make contact with your fingers). Discard root end. Use a small, stiff brush to clean garlic out of ridges. Other Root Vegetables: Moisten Garlic Grater with cold water. You can grate ginger, carrots, wasabi, jalapenos, horseradish, etc. For fibrous foods like ginger, use only back and forth movement. Use a brush to remove the pulp. Hard Cheese, Spices, and Fine Chocolates: Start with a dry Garlic Grater. Hold grater vertically over the dish or recipe, and move food over grater (it will fall down below) until you have the desired amount. WARNING: Grater is sharp! Don't let it come in contact with your skin. Handpicked for you by Roots & Harvest, a family-owned company, to make creating from scratch a bit easier.
